Early Learning Center

During spring break, some of our youngest learners were here having a wonderful time! Our young infants were cheesing it up and older infants made and explored sensory bags. Our 1 year olds had a blast exploring Easter Eggs and grass. Our 2 year olds really love playdough, coloring, and time outside.  Some of our 3 & 4 year olds joined us this week and their favorite activities were exploring dramatic play and the blocks and building areas.

STEM/Science Fair

Demonstrating impressive scientific inquiry, fourth-grade students successfully completed their STEM/Science Fair Projects. They took ownership of their learning by selecting research questions, formulating testable hypotheses, and diligently conducting experiments to gather results. Their projects explored a wide array of topics, including the science behind keeping ice cream cold, the wonders of the solar system, the mechanics of machines, the impact of solutes on buoyancy, the challenges of pollution, the dynamics of tornadoes, and many other engaging areas. Their efforts were evaluated by high school honors science students, who recognized outstanding achievements with prizes in engineering, experimentation, and research.

Brave Pride Glow Party

The Brave Pride Glow Party was a resounding success, lighting up the school with fun, laughter, and plenty of energetic dancing and gaga ball action! Students and teachers alike joined in the festivities, celebrating the positive choices that earned them this exciting opportunity. By consistently demonstrating respect, responsibility, and safety, these students were rewarded with a fun celebration. It was truly a blast for everyone who attended!

Maconaquah Middle School

Summer STEM Camp

Hello MMS families, I hope everyone had a fantastic Spring Break! Exciting news, Maconaquah Middle School has once again been awarded the Indiana GEAR UP grant! This state-level initiative, led by Purdue University and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, allows us to offer a variety of enrichment opportunities at no cost to you or MMS.

Thanks to this grant, we’ll be providing after-school tutoring next year, in-school activities, family nights, and an incredible Summer STEM Camp from May 27-30. All students are invited to attend, with transportation and lunch provided. Stay tuned for more details on how to sign up.

Middle School Sports & Activities Update

Spring sports are also in full swing, with golf, track, and soccer now underway. Additionally, the Chess Club is starting this week. I encourage all students to get involved in the many activities and clubs MMS has to offer. Research shows that students who participate in extracurricular activities build stronger peer relationships, perform better academically, and have fewer behavioral challenges. Let’s make the most of this exciting season!

Peter Pan Dazzles in the final performance of the year!

The curtains closed on a magical production of Peter Pan, where Leah Boggs dazzled as the adventurous boy who wouldn’t grow up, and Brady Mock delivered a thrilling performance as the notorious Captain Hook. The audience was captivated every time he and his seeming sidekick for most of the night, Preston Dickerson, held the stage! Over the course of three big shows, the cast’s energy and talent shone brightly, especially among the seniors who gave their final—and unforgettable—performances.

A special shoutout to Briella Smallwood, who not only played the mother but also served as the student director, showcasing incredible dedication both on and off the stage. One of the most magical moments? Peter Pan actually took flight, bringing the beloved story to life in an unforgettable way! Hats off to Mr. Walsh, Mrs. Lybrook, and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this production a soaring success. Bravo to the entire cast and crew for an extraordinary show!

🏀 Maconaquah Boys Basketball Makes Historic Playoff Run! 🏀

The Maconaquah boys basketball team had a season to remember, winning their first sectional title since 2000 at Logansport and following it up with a regional championship victory over Marion. Their incredible journey took them to the semi-state, where they battled hard before falling to eventual state champions South Bend St. Joe.

Senior Josiah Ball capped off his career with some of his best performances, leading the team with an impressive 28.7 points per game. AJ Kelly played big all season, leading in steals with 2.5 per game. Fuddy Kile dominated the boards as the leading rebounder (7.9 RPG), while Devon Murray showcased his sharpshooting with a team-best 38% from three. Landon Adams dished out 69 assists on the year, and Brayden Nipper made a lasting memory, scoring his first varsity point on Senior Night to the roar of the crowd.

This team found its rhythm at just the right time, playing its best basketball in the final five weeks of the season. The support from the fans was nothing short of amazing, with packed crowds cheering them on through sectionals, regionals, and semi-state. A huge shoutout to the cheerleaders, student body, and the entire Maconaquah community for making this playoff run even more special!

Congratulations to Head Coach John Burrus and his assistant coaches, whose leadership and experience in big games helped guide the team with confidence. This season was a testament to teamwork, determination, and the legacy these seniors leave behind for future Braves to chase. What a ride!
